Benjamin Sutin & Sonic Tapestry

Sonic Tapestry is an electric jazz fusion project led by award-winning NYC-based jazz violinist, composer, and educator Benjamin Sutin. Blending jazz improvisation with Eastern European, Balkan, Middle Eastern, and Latin musical traditions, the band creates original music built around infectious grooves, distinctive melodies, and expansive improvisation.

Drawing inspiration from the adventurous spirit of electric-era jazz, Sonic Tapestry occupies a space somewhere between Mahavishnu Orchestra, electric Miles, Return to Forever, and a desert jam session. Violin, guitar, accordion, bass, and drums come together to create a sound that is energetic, cinematic, earthy, and deeply human—rooted in tradition while pushing toward something unexpected, with an underlying sense of nostalgic novelty.

At its core, Sonic Tapestry is about finding connection across musical worlds and bringing people together through music. The band's original compositions explore universal themes of growth, chaos, resilience, and perspective, while performances balance composed material with spontaneous improvisation, keeping instrumental narrative storytelling at the center and inviting musicians and audiences into a shared experience.
