Sonic Tapestry

Sonic Tapestry is the latest project from NYC-based violinist and composer Benjamin Sutin.

A 2022 Seifert International Jazz Violin Competition winner and faculty member at Manhattan School of Music, Sutin developed this ensemble to bridge modern electric jazz with the traditional sounds of Middle Eastern, Eastern European, and Latin music.

The music is built on a high-energy, improvisational foundation, featuring a heavy-hitting lineup of frequent collaborators: Ben Rosenblum (accordion), Tom Wilson (keyboards), Benji Daniels (bass), and Norman Edwards(drums). The group is rounded out by guitarist Josh Siegel, Sutin’s long-lost cousin with whom he recently reunited with. Together, the collective explores a dense, melodic landscape that moves between complex odd-meter folk traditions and driving, rhythmic fusion.

Sonic Tapestry creates a unique space in the New York jazz scene where global folk melodies and electric jazz improvisation carry equal weight.
